SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., May 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On Memorial Day this year, all 167 Stater Bros. Supermarkets will participate in the "National Moment of Remembrance." At exactly 3 p.m. on Monday, May 28th, every Stater Bros. Store Manager will make an announcement asking all the customers and employees who are inside the supermarket at that time to pause for 60 seconds to honor those Americans who have died for the freedoms we all enjoy.
Established by Congress in 2000, the White House Commission on Remembrance encourages America to remember those who died in service to our country through acts of remembrance throughout the year. This commission sponsors the National Moment of Remembrance on Memorial Day to promote national unity.
Jack H. Brown, Chairman and CEO of Stater Bros. stated, "Memorial Day was originally established to commemorate America's fallen men and women. Stater Bros. would like to do our part to remind our customers and employees that this is still a sacred and noble holiday and a time when we can all connect as Americans."
