SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In just four years, the Stater Bros. Charities Dave Stockton Heroes Challenge has raised nearly $3 million for Southern California charities and has become the largest charity golf event in the region. This year's event will be held on the well kept greens of the Victoria Club in Riverside, California on Monday, March 12, 2012 and is limited to 128 players who compete for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

One of the highlights of this year's Tournament is the Welcome Ceremony, which will include the U.S. Army Parachute Team "The Golden Knights" as well as the world renowned 911 "Singing Policeman" Daniel Rodriguez. The "Heroes Challenge" brings together thirteen of local legend Dave Stockton's PGA Tour friends, six Medal of Honor Recipients, and several Celebrities.
New to the Tournament this year is PGA golfer Lee Trevino, a PGA Champions Tour Professional who since 1968 has claimed 29 PGA Tour Victories including the 1968 and 1971 U.S. Open Championship, the 1971 and 1972 British Open, and 1974 and 1984 PGA Championships. Trevino has also won 29 Champions Tour Victories including the 1990 U.S. Senior Open and the 1994 PGA Senior's Championship.
Four years ago, Stater Bros. Supermarket's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Jack H. Brown, partnered with long-time friend and PGA Champions Tour Pro Dave Stockton to launch a vision that has helped countless charities, causes and community members.
In addition to the "Heroes Challenge," the six Medal of Honor Recipients will visit San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino to speak to an auditorium filled with JROTC Units from throughout the region on Tuesday, March 13, 2012.
Both Brown and Stockton were born and raised in San Bernardino, California and have been proud residents of the Inland Empire for most of their lives. Because of their close ties to the community, Brown and Stockton feel a great desire to give back to the Inland Empire.
