CHICAGO, June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is a statement from the Estate of Elaine Steinbeck regarding today's news that the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal challenging the ownership of many of John Steinbeck's cherished works, including Of Mice and Men and The Grapes of Wrath:

"The Estate of Elaine Steinbeck is gratified that this decades long litigation is finally over and any questions over control of the works have been resolved. Today's action by the nation's highest court is the latest in a string of court decisions unequivocally confirming that the Estate has complete power over the use of John Steinbeck's works. John Steinbeck's wishes related to ownership and control of his literary works have once again been validated."
