Statement from Rep. Fattah: Joe Banner: a leader on and off the field for the Philadelphia Eagles
WASHINGTON, June 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, issues the following statement on today's announcement that Joe Banner has stepped down as Philadelphia Eagles President:
"Over his 18 years with the Philadelphia Eagles, Joe Banner helped to turn the Eagles into a billion dollar franchise, but he went way beyond that," Fattah said. "Banner oversaw a period of on-the-field success during which the Eagles went to the NFL playoffs 11 times, advancing to the Super Bowl in the 2004-05 season. He diligently worked with City Year, a division of Americorps, to help Philadelphia students succeed, and he oversaw the growth of the team's various community endeavors including the Eagles Youth Partnership. Today, as Joe Banner steps down as president of the Philadelphia Eagles, I thank him for all he's done for our city, and I wish him the very best in his future endeavors."
