Statement From PAJ President Kenneth Rothweiler on Restricting Doctrine of Joint & Several Liability

HARRISBURG, Pa., June 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a statement by PAJ President Kenneth Rothweiler:

I am extremely disappointed by the Legislature's acquiescence to the Governor's desire to strip individuals of their rights by passing the deceptively named Fair Share Act. Today's action is the worst kind of corporate welfare that does nothing to create jobs. It merely protects companies -- including polluters and the makers of unsafe products -- at the expense of taxpayers who may have to step in now that guilty parties are no longer liable.

We will challenge this destruction of an important legal right in the courts, just as we successfully did before.
