Statement from Minister Blaney on today's cyber-attack
OTTAWA, June 17, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement on a cyber-attack targeting the Government of Canada.
"Earlier today, I was briefed by my advisors on a cyber-attack targeting the federal government.
While I cannot comment on operational matters relating to national security, I want to thank our security agencies who worked to contain the attack. At no point was any personal information compromised.
Our Government takes cyber security very seriously.
We have made significant investments in a Cyber Security Strategy designed to defend against electronic threats, hacking, and cyber espionage. Furthermore, Budget 2015 reconfirmed our government's commitment to cyber security and ensuring our security agencies have the tools they need to address the evolving threat of cyber-attacks."
