Statement from Minister Blaney on the 2015 Spring Report of the Auditor General of Canada
OTTAWA, April 28, 2015 /CNW/ - Following the tabling of the 2015 spring report of the Auditor General of Canada, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, issued the following statement:
"I am fully confident that the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) are addressing the findings and recommendations of the Office of the Auditor General.
The CBSA continues to make strides in protecting our borders from illegal trade and travel, while facilitating the legitimate movement of people and goods. The Auditor General's recommendations have reinforced that the direction and actions taken by the Agency are on the right path to further mature the management of major IT projects.
The Correctional Service of Canada is ensuring public safety for Canadians. CSC contributes to this important priority by actively encouraging and assisting federal offenders in their rehabilitation efforts both in institutions and in the community so that they may reintegrate into the community as law-abiding citizens.
CSC initiatives are underway to address the issues raised by the Auditor General, while keeping public safety at the forefront of all decisions made."
