WASHINGTON, March 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio issued the following statement after meeting with President Trump and Vice President Pence:
Airlines for America (A4A) and our carrier members want to thank President Trump and Vice President Pence for inviting the CEOs of U.S. passenger airlines to meet with them and their team of seasoned experts at the White House. We had a very positive, constructive dialogue this morning that centered around the safety, health and wellbeing of travelers and the American public.
We appreciate President Trump reminding the traveling public that, "where [U.S. carriers] are flying, it's safe to fly."
The President added, "I think people are going to be very impressed with what the airlines are doing."
We applaud the Administration's leadership and join the President and Vice President in encouraging Americans to monitor the ongoing situation but at the same time go about their daily lives – go to work, hold meetings, take kids to school and travel.
We will continue to work collaboratively with the top leaders in the Administration and across federal agencies including the DOT, DHS, HHS and CDC to help contain and stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
