Statement by the Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, regarding Edmonton police officers shooting
OTTAWA, June 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement today regarding the shooting incident in Edmonton on Monday that resulted in the death of Constable Daniel Woodall and injuries to Patrol Sergeant Jason Harley:
"On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Constable Daniel Woodall. Constable Woodall made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the citizens of Edmonton.
I wish Sergeant Harley a full recovery, after being released from hospital in stable condition. My thoughts and prayers remain with the families and loved ones of both officers during this challenging time.
I am humbled by the tireless efforts of law enforcement personnel who leave their families each day to face unknown risks. These brave officers deserve the heartfelt respect of all Canadians."
