Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Summer Games
LONDON, Aug. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Today marks the official opening of the London 2012 Paralympic Summer Games.
The Canadian Paralympic Team, led into the opening ceremony by Canada's flag-bearer and wheelchair rugby athlete, Garett Hickling, will join the more than 4,200 athletes representing 165 countries in 20 sports at these Paralympic Games.
Our athletes have been training and preparing for this incredible milestone in their sport careers, and they are ready to compete against the world's best in their pursuit of excellence in London.
Our Government is proud to support the Canadian Paralympic Team. Along with Canadians across the country, we will be watching, cheering, and believing as our athletes compete for Canada while proudly wearing the Maple Leaf.
