Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on National Volunteer Week

OTTAWA, April 22, 2013 /CNW/ - National Volunteer Week is celebrated from April 21 to 27, and I encourage Canadians from coast to coast to make a difference in their communities by volunteering in sport.

From the early stages of sport to the highest levels of competition, volunteers play an integral role in Canada's sport system. In fact, more than five million Canadians generously donate their time to help support our sport system in roles from administration to coaching and officiating.

I would like to recognize and thank all of our outstanding volunteers, and I hope that even more Canadians will find ways to volunteer in sport in their communities.
