Statement By The Honorable Tom Ridge on the Nine-Year Anniversary of 9/11
WASHINGTON, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tom Ridge, the first secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and former governor of Pennsylvania, released the following statement today on the nine-year anniversary of 9/11:
"The tragedy of 9/11 cannot be outweighed by time. Nine years ago, we were shown heartbreak and heroism at its most vulnerable and most extraordinary moments. We were shown that when liberty is threatened, people are joined.
"On this September 11th, and every day, may we keep those we lost and their loved ones in our hearts and prayers and in the treasured narrative of the American experience. May their story always be our story; their courage, our courage; their actions, our path to follow – in a country ever more determined to remain safe, whole and free."
