WASHINGTON, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) Debt Reduction Task Force co-chairs former Senate Budget Committee Chairman Pete V. Domenici and Dr. Alice M. Rivlin, former Office of Management and Budget and Congressional Budget Office Director, released the following statement regarding today's U.S. House of Representatives vote to raise the debt ceiling:
"Today's vote to increase the public debt ceiling by nearly $2 trillion further underscores the rapid and unsustainable growth in our debt, and the need for a serious and politically viable long-term debt reduction plan. Our Task Force will consider all spending and revenue options and will produce, by year's end, a federal budget that reduces annual deficits and stabilizes federal debt at sustainable levels."
The Domenici-Rivlin Task Force is composed of the nation's leading budget experts, former cabinet officers and elected officials, as well as representatives of the academic, faith, seniors, business, and labor sectors. The Task Force will convene on February 24-25, April 14-15, June 15-16, September 14-15, and November 16-17 in Washington, D.C. and will hold two public forums around the country to develop its debt reduction plan.
