MIAMI, Dec. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 40 legislators from 16 states will convene January 5-7, 2018, for the Winter Meeting of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) at the Hyatt Regency Miami. Among the many topics at the conference, experts will discuss whether potential pari-mutuel wagering on different events such as esports, daily fantasy and sports auto racing is an opportunity or threat for the operators of traditional pari-mutuel facilities.
"As racetrack operators continue their efforts to appeal to new and younger demographics, they also may consider expanding their wagering options beyond horses and dogs," said Delaware Representative John Viola, who chairs the NCLGS Committee on Pari-Mutuels. "Our panel of experts from varying vantage points will provide thought-provoking commentary on this important subject."
Tying into the pari-mutuel discussion, nearby Gulfstream Park will host a Saturday afternoon property tour for Winter Meeting attendees.
The NCLGS Winter Meeting registration is open to the public at http://www.nclgs.org/meetings.html. Special room rates are available at the host hotel for a limited time.
