State of North Carolina Taps TPI to Help With IT Transformation
World's largest sourcing data and advisory firm assessing state's IT infrastructure, identifying opportunities to improve delivery of services, reduce costs to taxpayers
STAMFORD, Conn., Jan. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TPI, an Information Services Group company (Nasdaq: III) and the largest sourcing data and advisory firm in the world, today announced that it has been awarded a contract to advise the State of North Carolina on transforming its use of information technology to improve delivery of services while reducing costs to taxpayers.
Under the contract, TPI is performing a thorough and independent assessment of IT infrastructure, services and costs for all Executive Branch agencies, including the state's Office of Information Technology Services, which provides technology services to state agencies, local governments and educational institutions across North Carolina. Using objective data from both the public and private sectors, TPI is helping the state identify potential improvements to efficiency, transparency, performance and security.
"At a time of scarce state revenues and economic uncertainty, the taxpayers of North Carolina deserve IT services that are focused, efficient and cost-effective to provide," said State CIO Jerry Fralick. "We chose TPI after seeing how it had served as a trusted advisor to other state and local governments, helping them understand and address this critical challenge and make better and less costly use of technology for their constituents."
In July, Gov. Bev Perdue directed Fralick to move aggressively to make improvements to the delivery of IT in state government. She recently announced plans to consolidate as many as 100 computer service units into one location, part of a sweeping initiative to streamline state operations and shrink the size of government.
The contract with TPI, awarded in a competitive bid process, is a significant addition to the firm's growing Public Sector penetration, which already includes the City of Houston, the States of Washington, Vermont, Indiana and Georgia, and the national governments of Australia, Sweden and Singapore.
"In the current fiscal environment, government entities must approach IT services in a totally new way," "said Don Flores, Partner and Director, State and Local Government Services. "The transformation being undertaken by the State of North Carolina will be a model for others in the Public Sector, and we are excited to be a part of it. With the acquisition by ISG of Compass, the premier independent global provider of business and IT benchmarking, performance improvement, data and analytics services, we look forward to offering even greater capabilities to this vertical in the future."
