State Fire Commissioner Mann Mourns Passing of Former Fire Commissioner Jack Simon
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner Ed Mann today expressed sorrow at the passing of former State Fire Commissioner John W. "Jack" Simon, of Greensburg, Westmoreland County.
Simon died Friday, June 25, at age 73. He served as fire commissioner from 1990 to 1995 during the administration of Governor Robert P. Casey. He was an avid firefighter who also held administrative positions in Westmoreland County.
"Jack dedicated his life to his family, his community, his country and the emergency services community, serving Pennsylvania for more than 60 years," said Mann. "He was a man of integrity who cared deeply about public service. He believed in giving back to the community and ensuring that government helped people achieve their goals."
Simon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Kay; three daughters and a son; a sister; and six grandchildren.
