RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., March 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanks to a program sponsored by the LibertyLink® soybean system and Bayer, select state FFA organizations will share in a $50,000 contribution. Iowa FFA was the winning chapter and received a check for $7,480 during the 2016 Commodity Classic show in New Orleans.
Twenty-eight state FFA organizations opted to participate in the challenge. The chapters promoted the online Real Yield Game to growers within their states. The specific donation value was determined by the number of growers from respective states who played the game.
With 28 states participating and $50,000 up for grabs, state FFA organizations worked hard to spread the word about the competition as they vied for the LibertyLink Real Yield funds. Thanks to their organization and promotional efforts, the Iowa FFA chapter got the most plays and won the largest donation.
The Real Yield Game was the first social instant win experience sponsored by LibertyLink. The game consisted of growers competing for instant prizes of LibertyLink seed and a grand prize one-year tractor lease with John Deere®. LibertyLink committed a donation to an FFA chapter for each game play.
To play, participants virtually sprayed soybean fields with Liberty® to see the superior control the LibertyLink system provides.
"We thank LibertyLink and Bayer for this contribution," said Joshua Remington, executive director of the Iowa FFA Foundation. "We value this partnership, which helps both organizations prepare the future of agriculture."
"Congratulations to members of the Iowa State FFA for your efforts to rally grower participation. We'd also like to honor their community, because it's thanks to their participation the Iowa FFA won this $7,480 donation," said Malin Westfall, soybean marketing manager for Bayer.
