State Farm's Texas Scholar Award Program Celebrates 10 Years
$75,000 being awarded to Texas High School Seniors
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- State Farm Insurance's Texas Scholar Award (TSA) program is celebrating 10 years this 2011-2012 school year. State Farm will be commemorating a decade of awarding talented high school seniors, continued growth and success with several new enhancements to the scholarship program.
The Texas Scholar Award program will be expanded to include all University Interscholastic League
(UIL) sanctioned activities. TSA has become a two-tiered program; 50 Texas Scholars will be selected by March 15, 2012, each receiving a $1,000 scholarship. All recipients will then be invited to compete in an opportunity to receive one of the four larger scholarships – three awards of $5,000 and one award in the amount of $10,000. In all, State Farm will award a total of $75,000 in scholarships to high school seniors across the State.
"We, at State Farm, value the same characteristics that are embodied in Texas youth such as community, leadership and team spirit," stated Dane Larson, Marketing Manager, State Farm Insurance. "We are proud to be celebrating this 10-year milestone of our program. We applaud the outstanding young men and women who demonstrate a commitment to achieving excellence in their academics while maintaining an active profile in activities in their schools and communities."
To be selected as a State Farm Texas Scholar, a student must exhibit leadership and good citizenship in both academics and extracurricular activities. The high school senior should actively participate in academic competitions, as well as UIL-sanctioned competitions on a daily basis. Most importantly, a Texas Scholar is an individual whose academic progress and success serves as a priority.
Since 2001, State Farm Insurance has awarded 475 scholarships totaling $312,000 in Texas. Visit www.texasscholaraward.com to learn more.
