HARRISBURG, Pa., March 9, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The State Athletic Commission (SAC) is hosting the Golden Gloves Tournament Finals on April 8. The program starts at 7 p.m. and will take place at the Midtown Arts Center in Harrisburg. This marks the second consecutive year the finals take place in Harrisburg. Prior to 2016, the event was last held in Pennsylvania's capital city in 2004.
The tournament began this month with more than 600 amateur boxers and 10 match-ups spread out across the state. The winning boxers moved on to the Central, Eastern and Western Pennsylvania championship rounds. The winners from each region will compete in the Golden Gloves finals in Harrisburg next month.
"The Department of State is proud to host the Golden Gloves Tournament in Harrisburg for the second year in a row," said Secretary of State Pedro A. Cortés. "SAC Director Greg Sirb and the Commission work tirelessly with boxers and associated organizations to ensure compliance and the safety of the athletes."
