ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Jan. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Theano Apostolou was named today Senior Vice President Corporate Communications and Programming Publicity for Starz Entertainment. Based in Los Angeles, Apostolou will spearhead all of the network's communications strategies, programming publicity and external affairs. The announcement was made by Bill Myers, president and chief operating officer at Starz Entertainment. Apostolou will report to Myers and replaces Tom Southwick as the lead communications executive for the company following Southwick's retirement last year.

Apostolou previously served as Senior Vice President of Publicity, Talent Relations and Promotional Events for AMC, where she was the network's chief communications strategist and oversaw consumer communications for AMC original series, movie franchises and industry events.

Based in New York, Apostolou has served in various executive roles at AMC, in addition to earlier stints at WE tv and Fuse, during her successful career at Rainbow Networks. Apostolou played a central role in shaping "Mad Men" into a cultural phenomenon, bringing strong critical acclaim to "Breaking Bad," and launching "The Walking Dead" to record-breaking ratings. She has also spearheaded the award campaigns for AMC's original series, resulting in 23 Emmys, four Golden Globes and multiple other award recognition. Apostolou contributed to AMC's tremendous ratings growth and successful transformation into a destination for premium-quality programming.
Prior to Rainbow, Apostolou served as a media relations professional on the agency side at The MWW Group, Dan Klores Communications, and Ketchum.
Apostolou holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the American University in Athens, Greece and also studied art history at Rutgers College.
