"We are very excited to partner with the Museum of Discovery and Science to bring this dynamic 3D technology to the kids and families of Fort Lauderdale," said Becoming 3D CEO Grant Sadowski. "The museum is a terrific venue to expose both children and adults to one of the fastest growing technologies in the world. Our goal is to increase awareness in order to foster creativity and innovation."
3D printing (also known as additive manufacturing) is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. A 3D printed object is created by a machine that lays down, or "prints," successive layers of material until the entire object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the eventual object.
While schools are still in the early stages of adopting this innovative technology, 3D printing provides many opportunities that will revolutionize education. It promotes hands-on learning with prototyping technology that empowers students to design and produce their own realistic three dimensional models, emphasizing math and creativity skills. It also can provide teachers with three dimensional visual aids to use in their classroom to help illustrate a hard to grasp concept and creating realistic simulations.
Unlike traditional 3D printing manufacturers, Becoming3D's comprehensive assessment and solution for schools approach includes a financing program, training, supplies and servicing - critical elements for schools that are normally not included in the purchase of 3D equipment.
