SAN DIEGO, Dec. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Airlines seeking to differentiate their product offering and boost profits are increasingly looking towards technology. As a result, an increasing number of airlines are seeking avenues to access disruptive technology by partnering with start-ups.
Seateroo, a start-up focused on travel technology, is seeking one or more airlines to partner with on a pilot program for its white label product. With this product, airlines would be able to offer a branded and customizable seat swap market that would enable ticketed passengers to swap seat assignments. With this product, airlines could profit off of effectively selling the same seat more than once while offering passengers more options to secure either a desired seat or a reduced airfare.
Seateroo also has a product in development that leverages passenger behavior preferences to boost the ability of airlines to customize the seat assignment process. Currently, airlines are only monetizing passenger preferences related to seat location.
In addition to enhancing the passenger experience, which is critical to airline differentiation and passenger loyalty, these products offer incremental revenues at high profit margins.
Airlines partnering with Seateroo receive two benefits. First, airlines will receive an equity interest in a start-up targeting the attractive travel technology market. Second, airlines will access products that they may not be able to develop on their own.
"Our products are based upon well documented preferences among consumers related to seat preferences and passenger behaviors," said Brad Pursel, Founder and President of Seateroo. "Although the airline industry tends to be risk-averse and slow to adopt new technology, this tendency creates an opportunity for those airlines willing to partner with a start-up like Seateroo."
