STAR Systems International Debuts RFID Vehicle Decal at RFID JOURNAL LIVE! 2015
ASTRIA '3rd License Plate' Decal provides secure, reliable vehicle identification
HONG KONG, April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- STAR Systems International, a RFID Hardware, Tag and Professional Services provider, today announced the introduction of its ASTRIA RFID Vehicle Decal, which is designed for automatic vehicle registration and identification applications. STAR Systems International will demonstrate the decals at the upcoming RFID Journal LIVE! conference and exhibition in San Diego on April 15-17, 2015.
The ASTRIA "3rd License Plate" decals provide superior read and write performance, along with the ability to print and program secure RFID and bar coded data on-demand using STAR Systems International's printing software and a qualified RFID thermal-transfer printer. End users can generate secure and customized RFID registration decals, while printing and programming all of the vehicle information at the point of distribution. Once installed on the inside of a windscreen, the customized and customer specific information can be easily read from the outside of the vehicle.
ASTRIA is constructed to provide reliable reading even in extreme weather and driving environments due to its use of materials graded for automotive applications. Users can also design and print full-color graphics on both the adhesive and non-adhesive sides of the decal.
The decal is ideal for use in high performance/security applications such as electronic vehicle registration, electronic toll collection, secure parking and access control, fleet management, and other critical vehicle tracking projects.
"ASTRIA provides a safe and secure method for producing RFID vehicle decals on-demand," said Bob Karr, Managing Director at STAR Systems International. "ASTRIA's innovative design allows our customers to easily print and program custom vehicle identification decals that are reliable and include enhanced security features the market has been looking for."
Based on the Alien Technology HIGGS chip, with its flexible memory architecture, this passive RFID decal conforms to the ISO 18000-6C and EPC C1G2 standards. ASTRIA also incorporates STAR's VENUS antenna, a transponder designed specifically for use on vehicle glass. The VENUS transponder is OmniAir tested and certified for performance and interoperability in vehicle applications such as tolling, registration and secure access systems. It also has been tested and approved by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) for use in new vehicle manufacturing in India.
ASTRIA's user memory can be secured via the chip's read-lock and/or write-lock features to support a variety of public/private usage models. The chip also features a factory pre-programmed and permanently locked unique 64-bit serial number that cannot be altered. Utilizing the TID serial number and the EPC data bank along with open sourced algorithms, security can be enhanced even further by generating unique access codes for each tag.
The decals are available with a patented non-removable, non-transferrable (NRNT)/break on removal (BOR) tamper-evident feature, IR and UV light protection, invisible UV security printing, holograms, 4-color press and/or variable printing, custom graphics and chip programming. Users can easily design their own layouts and data elements, including linear and 2D bar codes, graphics, symbols, and other items using the STAR Systems International software.
STAR Systems International will demonstrate the new ASTRIA RFID Vehicle Registration Decal at the RFID Journal LIVE! conference in Booth 443.
