Star Scientific Announces Registration Approval from Premier Testing Laboratory, HFL Sport Science, for Anatabloc® Dietary Supplement

GLEN ALLEN, Va., April 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Star Scientific, Inc. (NASDAQ: STSI) is pleased to announce that its Anatabloc® dietary supplement has qualified as an Informed-Sport Registered Product by HFL Sport Science, part of LGC Group and a recognized world leader in doping control for almost 50 years.  This qualification permits Star Scientific to use HFL's "Informed-Sport" and "Informed-Choice" trademarks on Registered Products, providing assurance that these products have been tested for substances prohibited in sport.  To meet HFL's Informed-Sport ongoing testing requirements, every batch of Anatabloc® will be tested by HFL for the presence of more than 147 prohibited substances listed by athletic associations, such as WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency), USOC (United States Olympic Committee), NFL, MLB, NCAA, NBA, NHL, PGA, and WPGA.  In addition to ongoing batch testing of the product itself, HFL's Informed-Sport program required rigorous pre-registration sample testing and inspection of the product and the quality controls related to its manufacturing.
