WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass., May 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Star Market is celebrating its commitment to Greater Boston with the Grand Re-Openings of four store locations: Allston, Brighton, Mt. Auburn - Cambridge and Belmont. The events kicked-off on Friday, April 28, 2017 with ribbon cutting ceremonies attended by Star Market Leadership, Local Public Officials and Community Partners.
Since 1915, Star Market has been proudly serving customers in Massachusetts and today the company is focused on becoming the premier food retailer in Greater Boston," said Joe Kelley, Vice President and General Manager of Star Market. "The same values such as hard work, family and a principle of serving the customer first still apply today, more than 100 years later. These four Grand Re-Openings showcase our commitment to local communities and providing our valued customers with stores that feature an enhanced shopping experience with greater selections, convenience and variety."
Each of the store locations now feature expanded varieties of the freshest produce, top-quality meats and seafood, and a large selection of natural, gluten free, organic and local product. Also, the Mt. Auburn and the Brighton store locations also have an exciting, new Starbucks. Other store highlights that are being showcased in these locations may include some or all of the following:
- Expanded Prepared Meals and Hot Foods featuring freshly made pizza, grilled chicken and a noodle bar
- A Meat Department that has a larger section of All Natural and Organic meat
- Our signature Bakery features new pick-your-own cases with a larger product variety
- A wide range of natural, organic and gluten free products throughout the store
- Our signature Produce Department that includes a variety of organics and also in-store fresh cut fruits and vegetables
- Also featured are bulk nut displays, grains and in-store made peanut butter
- Increased selection of our all natural and organic fresh seafood
The Star Market team includes approximately 3,000 employees working at 19 Boston area store locations. A good number of Star Market employees have worked for the company for 20, 30, 40 and even 50 plus years. The following employees were recognized during the Grand Re-Openings for their years of dedicated service:
- Robert Patterson – 51 Years of Service
- Peter Tabor – 51 Years of Service
- David Tobey – 45 Years of Service
- Patrick Zambito – 39 Years of Service
As part of the celebration, Star Market also presented donations to local organizations at each of the four Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies:
- $250 to Local Police Department
- $250 to Local Fire Department
- $1,000 to the following Local Community Organizations: Cambridge Family & Children's Services, Belmont S.P.O.R.T., Cradles to Crayons and the Kennedy Day School
Customers were also invited to the Grand Re-Opening Open House on Saturday 4/29 from 10am-4pm that included:
- An array of tasty product samples from Store Made Tortilla Chips to Chocolate Chip Cookies and more
- At various times throughout the Open House, the stores also gave out to customers free bags of groceries (featuring products from Star Market's exclusive Own Brands)
