Star Career Academy Students Compete in All Star Bake Off
Students to Conduct Own Version of Cupcake Competition
NEW YORK, June 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Star Career Academy students from three states will compete in the All-Star Bake Off to be held at the school's Manhattan campus, located at 154 West 14th Street on Friday, June 21 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Teams of two from the Professional Banking programs from the Long Island, N.Y., Philadelphia, Pa. and Newark, N.J. campuses will compete to see who is the king or queen of cupcakes among Star Career Academy students.
Teams will have two-and-a-half hours to produce 100 of their very best cupcakes. Each cupcake must have three components - cake, filling and icing - and all cupcakes must be identical.
"We are excited for our students to show off their talents in this unique competition," said Chef Victory McNulty, director of culinary and hospitality programs at Star Career Academy. "Culinary students at Star Career Academy are working in great jobs across the region and the country and a pressure-packed competition like this one helps our students to be prepared for the working kitchen."
All team's recipes are required to be submitted in advance in order to allow Chef McNulty a chance to approve ingredients. A panel of judges will base scoring on taste, decoration and originality. Manhattan campus students and staff will vote for a crowd favorite, which will earn one team additional points in the judging.
Competition sponsors include Mercer Cutlery, Ace Endico Food Purveyors, Ultimate Image Uniforms and Demarle Silicone Baking Supplies.
