Star Career Academy Graduate Takes the Cake
NEW YORK, July 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- You could say that Iris Rezoagli thinks about cakes 24/7. You know that she is totally focused on cake decorating when she says she "reads books about cakes" in her spare time.
Rezoagli was recently nominated for the Martha Stewart American Made Awards, which recognizes ingenuity and excellence in the fields of crafts, design, food, and style. She is eligible to win a spot in American Made Market, an opportunity to be featured in Martha Stewart Living and a cash prize.
Rezoagli is a recent graduate of The Star Career Academy Professional Baking Program in Syosset (Long Island), New York and is planning to launch her own cake decorating business. Having just graduated, Rezoagli is taking a break to finish planning her daughter's wedding.
"After the wedding I will focus on my career as a professional cake decorator," she said. "Cake decorating is my passion. I love everything about it. I also enjoy teaching others on what I love to do. Before I attended Star, I made a DVD – Beautiful Sugar Shoes and also competed in different competitions. My work was published in magazines like American Cake Decorating magazine, Ices and Cake Central."
Despite already being a very serious cake decorator, Rezoagli knew that getting some formal education was important to her moving forward in her business.
"I am very happy to have taken the opportunity to attend Star Career Academy, which gave me the confidence and the push of success," she said. "I learned so much attending Star."
In particular, Rezoagli enjoyed the hands-on aspect of her Star Career Academy education.
"Being in the kitchen following recipes, measuring ingredients, mixing baking and interacting with other students. It really prepares you for what's ahead of you," she said. "The professionalism, atmosphere in both the classroom and the kitchen really has me ready for the next step in my career."
Rezoagli's favorite food to cook is, you guessed it – a cake. She enjoys making tres leches cake because "it is delicious." She also enjoys making and eating any kind of soup, especially recipes from her native Honduras.
It's probably no surprise who Rezoagli names as her favorite Food Network celebrity chef.
"Of course it's the one and only Ron Ben Israel, host of Sweet Genius," she added.
