Last year, Stanley Martin acquired Piedmont Realty and Construction in Charlottesville and sold 79 homes in that market which will grow to 12 neighborhoods in 2014. Expanding to Raleigh was part of the Piedmont merger plan; the first three neighborhoods in the Raleigh market were contracted in 2013. These neighborhoods include an urban development in downtown Raleigh called Blount Street; Ansley, which will be characterized by wooded lots inside the beltway; and Winmore, a community of neotraditional homes in Chapel Hill. These communities are scheduled to open this year.
In addition to moving into Raleigh, Stanley Martin will also enter the Richmond market through efforts that will span from 2014 to 2016. Richmond will become the fifth homebuilding division for the company.
Stanley Martin realized a great deal of achievements in 2013. In addition to adding closings in Charlottesville, Stanley Martin also surpassed its DC Metro closing goals. The company had 661 gross home sales for the year and 588 home deliveries while remaining one of the top homebuilders in its markets. Stanley Martin is looking forward to exceeding this momentum while enjoying the same successes in 2014.
