Standard Motor Products, Inc. Announces $5,000 TechSmart Scholarship Winner
NEW YORK, March 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard Motor Products, Inc. (SMP) announced today that it has selected the winner of its "Are You TechSmart?" scholarship search. Marcos Gutierrez of Oakland, CA, enrolled in the Automotive Technology Program at Chabot College, will receive the $5,000 scholarship to use towards his education.
Mr. Gutierrez was chosen from a field of student applicants from 31 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Each applicant was judged on relevancy, creativity and thoughtfulness in regards to the automotive industry by TechSmart® Technician John Filippone, Master Technician and Owner of Piedmont Tire and Auto. "Based on his understanding of the importance of keeping in touch with emerging technologies," said John Filippone, "I think Mr. Gutierrez is the best candidate for the scholarship."
