Standard & Poor's Names Robert Palombi Office Head for Toronto
NEW YORK, June 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard & Poor's announced today that Robert Palombi has been promoted to Managing Director and Office Head of the Toronto Office. He succeeds Tom Connell, who joined the North American Financial Institutions Analytical team last month.
In his new role, Mr. Palombi will have general leadership and management responsibilities for S&P's Canadian Ratings unit and will engage regularly with investors, issuers, and intermediaries in the Canadian market. Mr. Palombi will develop and implement strategies to sustain and expand S&P's Canadian Ratings franchise. He will also lead communication, regulatory, and marketing activities in the Toronto office. Mr. Palombi will coordinate operational support for Toronto-based employees and work across S&P's analytical, commercial, business, and functional areas to ensure ongoing coordination of Canadian franchise goals and global S&P priorities.
"Robert, whose S&P career spans two decades, has been an integral part of the S&P team," said Sarah Eubanks, Managing Director of Regional Ratings Services. "His knowledge of the Canadian market, our Canadian office and S&P made him the ideal candidate to take on this more expansive role as Managing Director, Toronto Office Head."
Most recently, Mr. Palombi served as a Director of Fixed Income Research in the Americas Ratings Market Development Group. Before that, he was a Senior Fixed Income Analyst. During this tenure, he has managed a diverse mix of business priorities and focused on building relationships with financial market participants.
Mr. Palombi earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economic and Quantitative Methods from the University of Toronto. He is a past Board Director with the Toronto Association for Business and Economics and has served as a mentor with the Women in Capital Markets Mentorship Program.
