Standard & Poor's Announces Changes to U.S. Indices
NEW YORK, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard & Poor's will make the following changes to the S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 indices:
- OSI Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OSIS) will replace Iowa Telecommunications Services Inc. (NYSE: IWA) in the S&P SmallCap 600 index after the close of trading on Friday, May 28. Iowa Telecommunications Services is being acquired by S&P 500 constituent Windstream Corp. (Nasdaq: WIN) in a deal expected to close on or about that date, pending final approvals.
- First American Financial Co. (NYSE: FAFwi) will replace S&P MidCap 400 constituent Horace Mann Educators Co. (NYSE: HMN) in the S&P MidCap 400, and Horace Mann Educators will replace Theragenics Co. (NYSE: TGX) in the S&P SmallCap 600 index effective after the close of trading on Tuesday, June 1. S&P MidCap 400 constituent The First American Co. (NYSE: FAF) is spinning off First American Financial to its shareholders in a transaction expected to be completed on or about that date. The First American Co., which is changing its name to CoreLogic Inc., will remain in the S&P MidCap 400 following the spin-off. Horace Mann Educators has a market capitalization of less than $560 million, making it more representative of the small cap space. Theragenics has a market capitalization of less than $45 million, ranking it 600th in the S&P Small Cap 600 index.

First American Financial is a provider of property & casualty insurance, title insurance and related services. Headquartered in Santa Clara, CA, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Property & Casualty Insurance Sub-Industry index.
Horace Mann Educators provides personal lines of property and casualty insurance, retirement annuities, and life insurance. Headquartered in Springfield, IL, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Multi-line Insurance Sub-Industry index.
