STAND and One Billion Acts of Peace Join Together to Change the World
Each STAND will now be a documented Act of Peace
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, STAND, the social network for people who change the world, and One Billion Acts of Peace, a global movement designed to engage ordinary citizens to tackle important problems facing our planet, are delighted to announce their new partnership. Each STAND (an awareness or fundraising campaign) on the STAND platform will now also be a documented Act of Peace.
"We are thrilled and honored to STAND with Meng Tan and the Billion Acts team," said Eric Harr, Co-founder and CEO of STAND. "STAND's mission aligns with the Billion Acts of Peace movement. We believe that you don't need to be big or powerful to change the world. You just need to stand for what you believe in, to commit to an act of peace. In fact, that's how our company began."
"We love, love, love the wonderful people at STAND and we are looking forward to partnering with them to continue to inspire people around the world to become agents of change," said Meng Tan, one of Google's earliest pioneers, and co-chair of the One Billion Acts of Peace Campaign. "If we truly hope to solve the biggest problems facing humanity, each of us will have to make a commitment to take action in our own community. STAND and One Billion Acts of Peace are providing the framework and tools to help make this a reality."
STAND launched their mobile application in August of 2015. The platform serves as a social network that enables people to search and discover over 1.7 million nonprofits related to any cause they care about, connect with like-minded individuals who are also passionate about those issues, and raise awareness or funds for the nonprofit of their choosing. STAND is a member of the Clinton Global Initiative and has an audacious "commitment to action" of one million STANDs in one year. The mission of STAND is to build a billion-dollar business that positively impacts billions of lives.
Billion Acts has logged over 6.6 Million Acts of Peace, in its first 18 months, and is committed to reaching 1 Billion Acts by 2019. Led by 13 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, including The Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu, Billion Acts strives to inspire everyday people around the globe to promote peace in their community or region of the world, one Act at a time. Billion Acts has created a platform focusing on 10 key issues to easily engage anyone wanting to make a difference, and prove that Acts of Peace, small or large, can can truly change the world.
This partnership is a perfect match. Both STAND and Billion Acts seek to make a positive, lasting impact on the world by lifting up all citizens to a place where human kindness can shine and focused action can bring real change.
