SAN JOSE, Calif., April 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A10 Networks™, the technology leader in Application Networking, today announced that St. Petersburg College, an accredited institution of higher education, selected A10's AX Series Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs) to modernize its network infrastructure to support its rapidly growing application needs. In Florida's Pinellas County, St. Petersburg College's IT infrastructure manages five campuses that support a growing number of students, in addition to a fast growing distance-learning program that hosts 32,000 students each semester. St. Petersburg College selected A10's high-performance 64-bit AX Series appliances to replace incumbent vendor F5 Networks' BIG-IPs, because they had no more capacity to serve the college's growing network needs.

St. Petersburg College needed an advanced ADC with multi-tenancy features in order to manage the diverse and rapidly increasing plethora of applications. Applications the network must support span the gamut from classroom campus-wide applications such as Blackboard Learn+, to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software such as Oracle PeopleSoft, in addition to Microsoft applications such as SharePoint, Lync and Exchange. The AX Series was selected as a proven virtualization solution that fulfilled the requirements of high density and high performance, while delivering on flexibility and reliability.
"We chose A10 Networks primarily for the flexibility of the architecture. The ability for us to create various virtual load balancers within the AX Series and still maintain performance was very important. Additionally, ease of configuration and cost compared to our previous solution was appealing," said David Creamer, Director Network Systems & TV Operations.
"A10 is proud to support educational institutions with our scalable and flexible Advanced Core OS (ACOS) platform, which can manage the steep growth in application demands from students and faculty members," said Lee Chen, Founder and CEO of A10 Networks. "Many customers benefit from the AX Series' innovative virtualization with Application Delivery Partitions (ADPs), which enable multiple applications to run autonomously on a single platform."
