MEMPHIS, Tenn., Jan. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Starting today, Lyft riders can Round Up & Donate to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® and its mission of finding cures and saving children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. To help launch the new partnership, country music superstar and St. Jude supporter Brett Eldredge surprised a group of St. Jude patients at a recent concert.
A video highlighting the moment Eldredge invited St. Jude patients to be his personal guests at an upcoming concert, as well as backstage footage from the event, is now live at Lyft.com. Eldredge is a longtime supporter of the hospital.
"I am so thankful to St. Jude for the opportunity to meet these incredible kids. The courage and zest for life that they have is something that will inspire me forever," said Eldredge. "Now everyone can help make an impact with Lyft's Round Up & Donate. I hope that everyone can see how powerful and simple it is to help by donating. Let's give these children the life that they deserve."
Lyft's charitable program launched eight months ago and has already raised $4 million. Users can simply visit 'Settings' in the Lyft app and select St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as their beneficiary. Once a rider has chosen St. Jude as his or her cause, Lyft will automatically round-up future fares to the nearest dollar and donate the difference.
"'Lyft's Round Up & Donate provides people an easy and convenient way to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude," said Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "Just a few cents can ultimately round up to a tremendous contribution, enabling us to continue with groundbreaking research and treatment all while keeping our founding promise that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live."
