GRENADA, West Indies, June 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Alumni from St. George's University have secured coveted residency positions throughout the United States and Canada in the 2014 National Residency Match Program – placing over 750 graduates into U.S. residency positions in more than 17 different specialties. In the past three years combined, St. George's University has placed more doctors into first-year U.S. residency positions than any other medical school.
"We are very proud of our students remarkable achievements, as they reach a major milestone on their journey toward becoming a physician," said Charles R. Modica, Chancellor of St. George's. "Significantly, our students matched for their personal choices, whether they aimed at super competitive residencies in specialties and subspecialties or whether they chose the paths deemed less competitive but most needed in our country – in primary care."
St. George's students secured their postgraduate medical training positions into residency programs at some of the most prestigious teaching hospitals in 46 states and the District of Columbia. In addition, 18 students matched into Canadian spots in the Canadian Residency Match Program.
Since opening in 1977, St. George's University has graduated more than 11,000 physicians who have gone on to practice in all 50 U.S. states and more than 50 countries worldwide.
