NEW YORK, Nov. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- St. George's University (SGU) will unveil a new advertising campaign for its School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) across the Caribbean this fall. The advertisement aims to raise awareness around the availability and affordability of a higher education locally as an alternative to travelling abroad.

The integrated campaign, developed by The Halo Group, which includes a 30-second TV ad, will air morning and evening during primetime on key Caribbean news media in markets including Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Jamaica, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Trinidad & Tobaga and Grenada.
"The creative concept behind the TV spot is to reinforce to young adults across the Caribbean the convenience of SGU as an accessible option for their post-secondary studies right here at home," said Charles R. Modica, Chancellor of SGU. "The ad sets a powerful example for others to follow -- to own your own future through education," he added.
The TV spot, "First" features a Caribbean girl who is the first to leave her family, attend university, pursue a career, and make her family proud of her accomplishments. The ad reveals an underlying message about how the girl's decision to go to college will have far-reaching effects on her and her entire family. The voiceover explains how SGU's SAS has created an opportunity for Caribbean students to pursue a bachelor's degree with generous scholarship awards in one of the University's 52 academic programs.
The School of Arts and Sciences offers a diverse range of innovative undergraduate and graduate programs -- from business, to the humanities, to public health -- designed to meet the emerging and changing needs of Caribbean students today. SGU SAS prepares students to become leaders in their communities. Emphasis is placed on internships, service learning, and study abroad experiences to allow students to apply what they learn in the classroom to the communities within which they live, and the professional spaces within which they will one day interface.
"We are proud to contribute to the overarching sentiment within the field of education. By positioning higher-education as a positive message of access and opportunity, we are encouraging all students to explore the option -- and that's what's going to make a difference," said Linda Passante, CEO/Co-Founder, The Halo Group.
The TV ad is part of an integrated campaign entitled, "One Degree of Separation" that uses other creative and media tactics to deliver the campaign's message to Caribbean students -- to create a brighter future for yourself and your community. The image, which appears in digital banners, print, and out-of home, juxtaposes a photo of a student with their future professions including, business, information technology and psychology.
The Halo Group developed and produced the creative campaign for St. George's University and managed the media investment as well.
