INDIANA, Pa., Oct. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- S&T Bank (S&T) (NASDAQ: STBA), a full-service financial institution with assets of $4.7 billion, branch locations in 12 Pennsylvania counties and loan production offices in northeast and central Ohio, is helping students earn extra credit this fall by offering financial lessons as part of the American Bankers Association Get Smart About Credit Campaign. As part of the campaign, area teachers are encouraged to schedule a classroom visit with a financial expert from S&T Bank who will offer lessons on how to manage a checking account, how to budget and how to use credit responsibly.
"For the past 12 years as part of the Get Smart About Credit Campaign, our goal has been to help local students develop smart lifelong financial habits at an early age," said Todd D. Brice, President and Chief Executive Officer of S&T Bank. "At S&T Bank, we want teens to understand that financial decisions they make today can impact their credit history for years, which may affect their long-term financial goals such as buying a car."
Sponsored by the American Bankers Association, the Get Smart About Credit program is a national campaign of volunteer bankers who help young people develop a stronger understanding of how to use credit responsibly. National Get Smart About Credit Day is recognized annually on the third Thursday in October (October 16, 2014), but S&T Bank works with area schools throughout the school year to offer credit education lessons.
For more information about the program or to schedule a day for an S&T banker to visit your classroom, please call Jessica Sharbaugh at 724.427.2002 or e-mail her at [email protected].
