The nationally recognized panel of experts spent time communicating current initiatives taking place around the world to counter the challenges golf is facing as part of the global economic climate which has dramatically reduced participation in various pastimes, including golf.
"The goal of the Grow Golf Forum is to engage the private country clubs of South Florida together with the national efforts currently in place and share our mutual successes in an effort to define common denominators," stated Craig D. Martin, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, St. Andrews Country Club and one of the founders of the Grow Golf Forum. "Embracing technology within our clubs was a recurring theme from Friday's forum. Not only does it target a younger generation with a combination of computerized equipment and social media, it can be a useful tool in stimulating golf lessons, retail sales and participation in tournaments."
Roy Schwedelson, President, Board of Governors St. Andrews Country Club added, "The technological advancements St. Andrews Country Club plans to implement during the next few months will provide our Members with state-of-the-art teaching facilities and tools. The Grow Golf Forum provided us with the opportunity to share our plans with other area clubs in the spirit of working together to increase interest in golf for our members and prospective members."
This unique Grow Golf Forum united the PGA of America, the world's largest working sports organization, the CMAA, the professional association for 3,000 country, golf, city, athletic, faculty, yacht, town and military clubs and Golf 20/20, a non-profit organization that unites the golf industry in support of programs that promote, enhance the growth of, and provide access to the game of golf worldwide.
