SHELTON, Conn., June 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- When asked several questions about "The Star-Spangled Banner" only 14.5 percent of 1,004 people surveyed knew the correct answers to three timed questions. However, 75 percent knew who wrote the lyrics. SSI wanted to determine people's knowledge of the national anthem and how they planned to use their smartphones over the Fourth of July weekend. There were some surprising results.

Seventy-six percent of those surveyed who own a smartphone said they plan to use their phones to take photographs; 77 percent planned to check the weather; and 76 percent plan to call a relative.
