SRI Sarnoff Products and Services Division Achieves Software Engineering Institute's CMMI Level 3 Appraisal

PRINCETON, N.J., Jan. 12, 2012  /PRNewswire/ -- Following a rigorous review, SRI Sarnoff's Products and Services Division has achieved the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI) Level 3 appraisal rating. This rating is given to organizations that demonstrate an institutionalized and defined process for high quality services and products.

SRI Sarnoff's Products and Services Division achieved CMMI Level 2 compliance in September 2010. Following continual process improvements that built on repeatable best practices already in place, the Division has now reached CMMI Level 3.

CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with essential elements for effective processes. It consists of best practices for development, fabrication, project management, quality, and maintenance activities that cover a product lifecycle from conception through delivery and maintenance.  A maturity level means that an organization is achieving the goals required by process areas in that level. 

In addition to CMMI Level 3, SRI Sarnoff's Products and Services Division was recently recertified as an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) ISO-9001 organization. ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized set of standards that define requirements for the implementation of quality systems and operational procedures.
