WHO: |
Padmanabha Rao Ravilisetty, Ph.D., is the phosphor program leader in the Materials Research Laboratory at SRI International. In this role, he manages a group of scientists and engineers developing phosphors and manufacturing processes for light-emitting diode (LED) based solid state lighting to convert blue as well as near ultra violet light from LED, upconversion nanophosphors for cancer diagnosis and therapeutics, bio imaging, security and healthcare applications. He has extensive expertise in the development and manufacturing of advanced nanomaterials and coating processes for lighting, medical, military, and security applications. |
Prior to joining SRI, Ravilisetty was the director of phosphor research and development at Intematix Corporation and at Nanogram Corporation. Previously, he was a director of research and development at Authentix Inc., a senior scientist at Panasonic Plasma Display Laboratory and at Color Display Corporation, and a materials scientist at Thomas Electronics Inc. In addition, he was a visiting scientist at the University of Waterloo in Canada, where he taught a graduate course on luminescence and applications. |
Ravilisetty has developed technology currently used to improve brightness, life, and stability of existing phosphor materials for large size high-definition plasma televisions. He has numerous research papers published, has contributed to book chapters, and has written his own book Luminescence: Phenomena, Materials, and Devices. Ravilisetty holds 24 patents and patent applications. |
Ravilisetty received his Ph.D. in materials science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India and M.S. in electronics from Andhra University, Waltair, India. |
