SRA and Oracle Support Successful Integration of US Coast Guard Payroll System
FAIRFAX, Va., June 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SRA International, Inc., a leading provider of IT solutions and professional services to government organizations and Platinum level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), announced that the company successfully supported the implementation of Oracle's PeopleSoft Global Payroll, an enterprise wide system that delivers enhanced Human Resources and Payroll support to members of the US Coast Guard (USCG), Public Health Service (PHS), and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The modernization of the USCG's 30-year-old human resources and payroll systems included the consolidation of multiple systems supporting the USCG, NOAA, and PHS into a single, integrated HR and payroll software application called Direct Access. By employing a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) PeopleSoft system, the USCG will be able to more easily adapt and configure the system to meet future needs. Deployed in January, the new Direct Access system serves more than 100,000 active duty and reserve personnel in the USCG, PHS, and NOAA, providing continuity of personnel information when a service member transitions from Active Duty to Reserve service or retirement. The fully integrated system also allows the USCG to better identify and retain key talent within the organization.
"USCG sought a solution that would enable it to reduce IT customization, consolidate siloed systems, and create one primary resource for HR data," said Mark Johnson, senior vice president, Oracle Public Sector. "Oracle's PeopleSoft Global Payroll solution provided USCG with a platform designed to improve efficiency, control worldwide payroll options, and establish best practices across the enterprise."
George Batsakis, executive vice president of SRA's National Security Group, commented on the achievement: "SRA has been privileged to support critical missions within the USCG for 10 years. Lending our deep Enterprise Resource Planning expertise to the task of ensuring USCG members have access to dependable and efficient HR and payroll information has been one of our most important projects."
