Squire Sanders Continues Environmental Practice Expansion
CLEVELAND, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Environmental lawyers Ronda L. Sandquist, Kristi J. Livedalen and Gina Guy have joined global law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P., which is actively expanding its prominent Environmental, Health & Safety Practice Group.
"Ronda and her team have tremendous experience in a wide range of environmental law and regulation that will be a significant benefit for clients dealing with environmental issues," said Karen A. Winters, leader of Squire Sanders' Environmental, Health & Safety Practice Group. The lawyers join Squire Sanders from Jackson Kelly PLLC.
Winters said Sandquist, Livedalen and Guy will be based in Denver and will work closely with Phoenix-based lawyers Christopher D. Thomas and Peter W. Culp on client matters involving natural resources and environmental law.
"We're particularly pleased to welcome this team, as they have expertise with a variety of environmental issues specific to the Western United States, including issues related to development on public lands. This background is important for our clients interested in development or mining, as most land available for new development or with extractable resources is located on either federal or state property," Winters said.
Sandquist, who is a partner, has nearly 30 years of experience in environmental law, starting with her work in the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. She led the environmental practice at her previous firm. Livedalen, of counsel, represents clients in hearings before environmental and utility regulatory agencies and counsels clients on environmental compliance matters. Guy's focus is natural resources law including issues involving use of federally owned lands and impacts on endangered species. Guy was deputy general counsel for Installations and Environment for the US Air Force, advising on environmental management and policy issues. Prior to that, Guy was for 20 years regional solicitor for the US Department of the Interior for the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions.
Winters said the Denver-based lawyers will also work with firm lawyers in the Energy & Utilities Practice Group and the firm's cross-practice Metals, Mining & Natural Resources Industry Group.
Sandquist said her team's first interest in Squire Sanders stemmed from its strong environmental practice, which consistently receives top ranking in legal guides such as Chambers USA.
"As we learned more, we realized Squire Sanders' industry team focus gave us opportunity to work with a wide range of clients as well as providing our clients with access to Squire Sanders' global platform," Sandquist said.
