SPYSCAPE Launches Free 'Spy School'
Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It: See Yourself, And The World Around You More Clearly, Through The Lens Of Spying
NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- SPYSCAPE, the immersive spy museum and experience in midtown Manhattan, launches a new program to facilitate students developing key 'spy skills' that are valuable in their everyday lives.
SPYSCAPE's Spy School helps students to identify their spy skills (including analysis, empathy, leadership and perception) using a methodology developed by a former Head of Training at British Intelligence.
"SPYSCAPE provides a wonderfully creative, interactive, and stimulating experience that imparts tremendous insights into the conduct of spycraft and intelligence operations," said General David Petraeus (US Army, Ret.), Former commander of US Central Command and former Director of the CIA.
After completing exercises in brainpower, risk-tolerance and personality, students experience real world spy challenges. These include making and breaking codes in a WW2 themed Encryption mission, lying and spotting lies in Deception booths, using their powers of observation in the Surveillance drum, and testing their agility and strategy in the Special Ops laser tunnels. They also learn how to stay safe online and the importance of questioning in this complex era of artificial intelligence, hacking, fake news and surveillance.
Upon completion of their experience, they'll be given a Debrief which identifies the spy role they're best suited to, and emailed a detailed profile of their psychological and behavioural attributes, together with links to articles and videos to inspire them to further develop their skills.
"We're thrilled by the success of SPYSCAPE in New York City, and delighted to be able to offer this experience for free to students," said Ian Oldaker, Chief Operating Officer, SPYSCAPE New York. "We have had a lot of requests for this kind of program and we're excited about creating new educational offerings as we continue to grow"
SPYSCAPE's Spy School is designed for college, high school and middle school students. It is currently available from Mondays to Thursdays from 4pm onwards (last admission 7pm). Participation in Spy School is free with a valid student ID, but each student must be accompanied by a paid ticket-holder.
Since its opening in February 2018, SPYSCAPE has quickly become one of New York City's highest rated museums. With a Google Review score of 4.5, SPYSCAPE is rated higher than the Guggenheim and the New Museum, and on a par with the MoMA and the Whitney.
