FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Corporate social responsibility is at its most impactful when time, in addition to much needed funds, are given. To this end, SproutLoud founders Jared Shusterman, CEO, and Gary Ritkes, President, joined the Starkey Hearing Foundation this week in the Dominican Republic by sponsoring and participating in the Hearing Mission, which gives the gift of hearing to those in need. "We are honored to participate in the Dominican Republic Hearing Mission," said Jared Shusterman, CEO at SproutLoud. "At SproutLoud, our commitment to our customers extends beyond our platform and services. Having the opportunity to support the Starkey Hearing Foundation in the Dominican Republic is a great way to contribute directly to the good work they do."
Founded in 1984, the SHF has helped the hearing-impaired in over 100 countries and has pledged a benevolent one million hearing aids during this decade. The trip, which takes place from April 17th—21st, focuses solely on providing hearing aids and access to care for people with disabling hearing loss. Shusterman and Ritkes will be joined by 13 fellow sponsors, as well as VIP guests that include four-time heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield. Together, they are committing the time and resources needed to assist SHF in "building strong partnerships, empowering local teams and expanding its three-phase Community-Based Hearing HealthCare model" within the Dominican Republic.
Core components of the mission trip include: (1) fitting hearing aids and custom earmolds on qualified hearing aid candidates, (2) counseling and training hearing aid recipients, teachers, student ambassadors and patients on how to care for and operate hearing aids, (3) providing After Care information to hearing aid recipients regarding follow-up services, and (4) selecting and training local program teams to execute ongoing program activities. During the trip, the Dominican Republic missions team will meet with 450 patients daily.
"SHF does amazing work delivering care to people with hearing loss and we really appreciate the opportunity to get involved directly on this Hearing Mission," said Gary Ritkes, President of SproutLoud. "We thank the Starkey Hearing foundation for giving us the opportunity to help bring the joy of sound to those who need it most."
