"We're opening our first pop up shop because, like many eco-conscious brands, we know that fashion is not only about looking good, but also about feeling good. With growing awareness of the hazards humanity is inflicting on Mother Earth, sustainable, low-impact fashion is definitely here to stay. We chose SOHO as the location of our first shop because it's a neighborhood that reflects Sprout Watches' design spirit: use the raw materials the Earth has given us and transform them into something beautiful and desirable. Living and working in NYC, we also wanted to give back and we're proud to have partnered with some of the best local environmental organizations. Like us, these organizations strive to make our neighborhoods, and our planet, a better place to live. We look forward to sharing the story and meaning behind Sprout Watches in this intersection of life, fashion and culture," said Marcella Maselli, Creative Director.
Earth Day at the shop will be a spectacle not to be missed. MARCOART, a lower east side based local celebrity artist, will autograph limited edition Earth Day posters and 22 hand painted Sprout Watches created to honor Earth Day 2011. He will also sell MARCOART pieces out of his art truck that will be parked in front of the shop. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the New York Restoration Project (NYRP). The shop will also have free, tasty treats prepared for Sprout Watches by the famous Treats™ Truck. The Treats Truck will also sell special Sprout Watches treats from the truck on Earth Day. Go to www.treatstruck.com to find where they will be selling on Earth Day, all proceeds will be donated to NYRP.
The shop will be open Sunday-Friday (closed Saturdays), from 11a.m.-7p.m. and in keeping with the community vibe, Sprout Watches has partnered with the New York Restoration Project, Riverkeeper and The Surfrider Foundation (NYC Chapter). These organizations will receive a portion of all proceeds generated from the shop. While several local artisans including: Playback Clothing, Neiko Designs, Honey Pie Design, DiPalermo Body, Fourviere Hill, Kookla Lipgloss and Knot by Gran'ma have been invited to sell their unique eco-wares. Also, we'll encourage visitors to add an eco tip to our Sprout Watches tree. Every entry received will be posted to the website and one tree will be planted with the Trees for the Future organization.
