NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas, Feb. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- When love blooms in New Braunfels on the banks of the Guadalupe River, it can lead to a wedding reception floating down the river!
"Dustin and I love the water and the outdoors," said Lindsay Wiginton Ellis. "We're always on the hunt for places to swim and explore so Dustin signed up to raise money for the Flatwater Foundation, (a mental health therapy and family support organization for cancer patients.) The challenge was a stand up paddle race so every weekend we would go to New Braunfels to practice and enjoy the Guadalupe River together."
Dustin and Lindsay grew up close to each other in San Antonio with many mutual friends but never met until they ran into each other at a Spurs-watching party. It was love at first sight and about a year later they were looking to buy a home together in New Braunfels, where they had enjoyed the Texas Hill Country so much together.
"We looked for quite a while but ended up agreeing that the best place for us was New Braunfels," said Lindsay. "We bought a house within walking distance of the Faust Bridge that overlooks the Guadalupe and just a short drive to the Comal River halfway between Gruene and downtown New Braunfels. After we closed on the house, Dustin proposed. We knew exactly where we wanted to get married – we had stayed at the Hideout on the Horseshoe before and talked about how perfect it would be for a wedding."
Dustin and Lindsay celebrated their wedding New Braunfels style – the reception included a tube float on the Guadalupe River!
"We were so in love with New Braunfels we used all local vendors like Blumenmeisters Flower Market for our rustic, colorful floral arrangements, 2 Tarts catered and the food and sweets were delicious – we've made a habit of stopping there often for sweet treats and gourmet coffee," said Lindsay. "Local photographer, Chris Ibe of CMI Photography, beautifully captured our day; we danced all day and night to Jabarvy, our amazing band; and the Hideout cabins for family and friends and their wonderful staff made it all perfect."
You'll find New Braunfels romantic too – check out these great things to do with the one you enjoy spending time with the most – there's a reason New Braunfels is the favorite vacation destination of generations of Texans!
