PORTLAND, Ore., May 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Springbrook Software announced today the release of Springbrook Cloud 2.0 for local government. This release provides improved features meant to differentiate Springbrook from legacy ERP vendors.
"We had a choice to make," said Doug Evans, Springbrook's Chief Technology Officer. "We could simply host multiple instances of our on-premise software and call it cloud, or we could build a true cloud solution from the ground-up. Cloud 2.0 gives local governments currently using outdated legacy solutions the option to upgrade to a multi-tenant, high performance, scalable application optimized for the elastic cloud."
Evans went on to explain the software industry recognizes a few key characteristics of a cloud-based application. These include:
- A single, multi-tenant version of the software shared by all customers
- On-demand scalability to meet rapidly changing requirements
- Regularly-scheduled updates pushed out automatically with little downtime
- Accessibility from anywhere with only a computer and an internet connection
- Built-in Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Service
"A true cloud solution has to offer all of these advantages," said Evans. "No one should get left behind on an old version, have to pay for computer resources when they aren't needed, or have to worry about security and unexpected expenses. Only Cloud 2.0 offers these advantages."
Cloud computing has become the dominant software delivery paradigm in the private market. Springbrook CEO Steve Rementeria believes the public market isn't far behind. "Cloud 2.0 offers an enormous amount of value to cities and districts," said Rementeria. "While all the other vendors are just hosting their legacy software, we created a completely new product that lets our clients take advantage of all the benefits a true cloud solution can offer. This really will change the way local governments do business."
One of those local governments is the City of Gig Harbor, Washington. Gig Harbor upgraded to the cloud and has been happy with the results. "We knew we wanted cloud, but we wanted to wait for a true cloud solution," said Dave Rodenbach, Gig Harbor Finance Director. "When Springbrook rolled this out, we jumped at the chance."
