Sports Turf Industry Leader Acquires Innovative Alternative Infill Technology
Players, Coaches, Trainers and Industry Experts Agree: Envirofill(R) Coated Sand Infill Sets A New Standard for Playability and Responsibility
CINCINNATI, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- With a bold, strategic move into the manufacturing and supply side of the synthetic turf industry, The Motz Group purchased the assets of Dalton, GA-based U.S. Greentech, LLC, acquiring the intellectual property rights for coating and pigmenting silica sand for use as a turf infill. The subsequent takeover of All Sports Surfaces LLC, of Longview, TX, secured exclusive ownership to the most innovative and promising alternative infill on the market today. The newly formed company has been incorporated as USGreentech, L.L.C., and has brand-named their coated sand infill, Envirofill®.
Envirofill is positioned to seriously challenge crumb rubber as the infill of choice in 4th generation sports and leisure synthetic turf systems. The product addresses head-on the growing concerns surrounding crumb rubber infill. Envirofill, a naturally occurring, highly rounded silica sand, is non-toxic, dustless and heavy metal free. The proprietary coating process locks out moisture, reducing microbial survival in the turf canopy. Due to their size and uniformity, the coated grains have a low abrasion index and resist compaction and displacement mounding. In infill heat build-up studies, clear coated Envirofill tested 80 degrees cooler than black crumb rubber and has proven to lower outdoor playing surface temperatures as much as 20% compared to crumb rubber.
When asked about this new infill, Joe Motz, president of The Motz Group, said, "Envirofill is an outstanding product that delivers high-performance playability. It's not as springy as rubber, so the playing surface feels much firmer – much more like natural grass. The product is ideal for premium landscape turf and sports fields. Because of its superior performance characteristics, it is the infill component of FIFA 2-star systems installed in both Europe and Australia."
USGreentech approached Target Technologies International Inc (TTII), a well recognized synthetic turf material and construction products broker, to be the sole North American distributor of the product. On the alliance with Target Technologies, Motz added, "We were looking for someone who shared our vision to deliver an alternative to the traditional rubber infill and one that had the experience and horsepower we needed to launch Envirofill into the mainstream market. We found that partner in Target Technologies."
The feeling is mutual as Target Technologies' Managing Director, John Giraud recently shared while discussing the need for alternative infill solutions for synthetic turf fields. "We are excited to be associated with USGreentech. Both companies believe in ongoing R&D to jointly offer industry-leading products. Envirofill not only provides the sustainability aspect, but also the high-performance characteristics required by our clients. When you combine these facts with the dust-free nature and end-of-life recyclability of Envirofill, we really have a superior, high-quality synthetic turf infill – making it a leader in our product group."
The Motz Group has been delivering innovations in high-performance grass and turf sports field systems since 1977. They have constructed sports fields around the globe at the highest levels of athletic competition. Their portfolio includes NFL, MLB, MLS and numerous NCAA venues, along with marquee events such as the Olympics, Super Bowls, World Series, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and soccer, rugby and cricket World Cups.
