ALLENTOWN, Pa., April 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Trumpeting those who help dedicated athletes achieve, specialized hospital network Coordinated Health (CH)—the sports medicine leader in the greater Lehigh Valley region for the past 27 years—is raising its support of athletes' careers and dreams to an unprecedented level.
Tagged #GreaterThanOne, the spring-long program will publicly promote six real-life stories contributed by CH sports patients from professional athletes to weekend warriors. The #GreaterThanOne platform highlights a community-based cause that is personal to each athlete and enables them to raise funds via an integration with crowdfunding site Indiegogo.
The campaign starts with five accomplished athletes:
Michael Liberto, the professional boxer known as "The Bethlehem Brawler," places his undefeated record on the line Saturday in his hometown at the Sands Bethlehem Events Center, his first fight since his ACL reconstruction.
Domenique Catalano, a team captain at Mystic Hockey Club in Nazareth, sophomore field hockey player who has already lettered twice at Easton Area High School and outstanding scholar.
Terry Hammons, co-owner of CrossFit Lehigh Valley and corporate attorney.
Adam Reitz, a teacher at Liberty High School who is competing in this month's Boston Marathon.
Hannah Edwards of Northampton's Catasaqua High School, who was recently named to USA Today's 20-player pre-season softball All-USA team. Edwards' story also includes other athletes in her family.
A sixth featured athlete will be selected from online submissions.
"We wanted to highlight the authentic nature of the relationships that are forged between our patients and CH doctors, physical therapists, and athletic trainers. Therefore, we deliberately chose real patients and not paid models and actors," said Coordinated Health Marketing Head Sulynn Amrhein. "#GreaterThanOne is about community and inclusion. It enables athletes to recognize their supporters who contributed to their success, and invites everyone to choose a level of personal involvement—from a simple click to attending a free sports seminar."
There are four ways to participate at coordinatedhealth.com/sports:
- Read athletes' #GreaterThanOne stories
- Share their stories or one of your own on the site or via social media
- Support an athlete's cause by donating to his or her fundraiser
- Register for free sports seminars hosted by Coordinated Health specialists
The public can attend any of more than 30 seminars this spring where they can receive free expert tips and screenings. The first seminar will be held on Saturday at Mystic Hockey Club in Nazareth with Catalano in attendance.
The campaign culminates with an inaugural award recognizing the outstanding #GreaterThanOne athlete and his or her team of supporters, to be presented at the Coordinated Health Athlete of the Year dinner on June 2 at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.
CH has the most fellowship-trained sports medicine physicians in its coverage area and provides the team physicians and athletic trainers for dozens of Pennsylvania schools including Lafayette College and Lehigh University. Its support of athletes includes the Coordinated Health Athlete of the Week program for high school athletes.
Athletes of any level who have used Coordinated Health's healthcare services are eligible for a #GreaterThanOne fundraising campaign and award consideration. To apply, they can visit coordinatedhealth.com/sports. All entrants will receive a free program t-shirt.
